Burger King Puts Pork Ribs on the Menu

National Pork Board President Steve Weaver reported at World Pork Expo that Burger King is test marketing "Fire-Grilled Ribs" in four markets.
 
It is a result more than a year of development between Burger King and the National Pork Board, noted Weaver. 

"We've worked with experts in food innovation, product marketing, and research and development to provide Burger King with industry data and information, market trends, and menu concepting, along with product review and evaluations, " according to Paul Perfilio, NPB national foodservice marketing manager.

To start off, Burger King will test the ribs in 300 of its stores in Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Greensboro, N.C., and Orlando, Fla. The full-muscle ribs, cut into short sections will be offered combinations of three-, six- or eight-piece servings. A dipping sauce will be included. 

Weaver noted that the long-term plan is to offer the product in up to 3,500 of Burger King's nearly 8,000 U.S. restaurants by next year.
