Custom Animal Welfare Seminar, March 25

Developing an on-farm animal welfare program is an important step in ensuring animal well-being and maintaining public trust. University of Minnesota Extension and the Minnesota Pork Board will sponsor a free online seminar March 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. (Central) titled “Creating an Animal Welfare Program.”
The seminar will offer information and tools to assist pork producers with developing a custom animal welfare programs for their operations. Presenters will be Jim Lummus, curriculum manager, and Sherrie Niekamp, director, animal welfare with the National Pork Board.
The topics to be addressed in this webinar include:
- Selecting and hiring animal caretakers
- Tools and strategies for implementing a training program
- Additional resources to assist in development of an animal welfare program
Interested individuals can access the free program by clicking here a few minutes before the 1 pm start time. An archived copy of the program will also be made available on the same website a few days after the program airs.
